History book revail nothing about the origin of oriental rugs. It is believed that it was first made by NOMADIC tribe, who lived in the mountains of west and central Asia. The carpet weaving Trading has lived through ages. .The famous PAZYRYK carpet was discovered in 1949 at a Scythian burial site in the Altai region in southern Siberia. This carpet torn in parts ,is a fine example of pile rugs both in design and craft. It is said that it was around 500 B.C.

The art of carpet weaving was introduced in Persia and adjacent areas
including Pakistan which now has become the" HOME" of oriental carpet.

Pakistani carpets are the favourite of the consumers in all major markets. The special characteristic of Pakistani Carpets is that they combine quality with a resonable price.In the past owing a carpet was the ultimate in luxury.But thanks to the improved knotting technique ,dyeing, and finishing skill developed by Pakistan craftsmen ,even a man of average means can now afford a hand knotted carpet

Raw material:

Wool is the basic raw material for weaving hand knotted carpets. Cotton and silk are also used .The quality of carpet depends on quality of wool. Wool is superior to all synthetic fibres .Wool does not combustion and is water repellant. It is also crushed proof .and does not loose strength or
texture by repeated washing and cleaning. These special properties of wool make this natural Fibre prime choice for carpet making.

PASHMINA: is the finest and softest among the neumerous varieties of wool used for carpet making.Pashmina wool imported from TIBBET has long been used by carpet weavers in Kasmir.

PAKISTANI WOOL: Pakistan produces large variety of wool .Pakistani wool is ideal for carpet weaving .The best variety come from Baluchistan and cholistan..It is strong and rasilient qualities that help to make the pile firm but soft.

NEWZELAD WOOL: It :is used to create blended varieties.

GHAZNI WOOL: It is also now being used to make vegetable dye carpets.
